Springtime and Messy Magic

As the weather starts to warm up, I finally had an opportunity to soak up the Vitamin D! While catching a few rays, I experimented with Rit Dye specifically, Rose Quartz, and different techniques for applying the dye.

The setup was pretty straight forward. I grabbed the most fibrous cotton sheet of paper I could find so the paper would soak up the dye and make the Rose color pop right off the paper. I carefully deckled all the sheets of paper to maximize the use of the sheet and provide different variations of sizes. I followed the directions according to the Rit Dye bottle, used a Ball jar (though I could have used a slightly bigger jar), and went to work!

After most of the sheets dried I realized most of my sheets of paper looked like the opposite of Pantone chips. Haha! Overall, it was a successful experiment and the weather was certainly a plus! Next I’d like to make my own natural dyes for paper using fruits, vegetables, etc. Keep you posted!

Enjoy and check out the photos below to see who helped me!

I even had my assistant, Gus, helping me!! 😉 He’s the BEST and cutest!!!
